What's new in Locale

Every improvement we ship, in one place. We're in beta and moving fast — thanks for coming along.

Your plan, protected

Add a booking without losing your plan

  • Attach a booking, and that's all that happens

Upload a flight, train, hotel or event ticket and Locale files it on the right day. A train lands in your travel pills and on its departure day, linked to the operator. A hotel adds check-in and check-out. Your itinerary is never rewritten.

  • Trains, buses, ferries and tickets

Confirmations are no longer flights-and-hotels only. Eurostar, Amtrak, coach, ferry and event tickets are all understood.

  • Rewriting is now a deliberate choice

Regenerating the whole itinerary is tucked away, clearly marked, and tells you exactly how many stops it would delete before it does anything.

  • No more retyping your flight

Adding travel on the Crew tab? Upload the confirmation and the form fills itself in. Everything stays editable.

Sign-in & sync

Sign in with a code, and your trips stop disappearing

  • A code instead of a magic link

Some email providers scan links before you can click them, which quietly used up single-use sign-in links. A code you type can't be consumed by a scanner, so crew invites work on Outlook and Hotmail too.

  • Trips built before you sign in are kept

Plan first, sign in later. Your trip is now claimed to your account before anything syncs, closing a path where a locally-built trip could be overwritten.

Days & itineraries

Days that read like a real plan

  • Move a stop to another day

Put something on the wrong day? Open it, tap Move to day, pick the new one.

  • Weekdays and dates, not "Day 1"

Each day reads "Thursday, Sep 17". Rename any day and the date stays underneath.

  • Links in notes actually work

Paste a booking link into a note and everyone can tap it.

  • Walking directions by default

Mapping a day used to open driving directions. City days now open walking, one tap from transit.

  • Sharper AI itineraries

Named venues with what to order and when to go, instead of "explore the old town". Every stop links to the real site, and sports fans can now say so.

  • Next 3 things includes packing

Your overview now counts what's left to pack as the trip gets close.

Accessibility & security

Easier for everyone to use — and safer

  • Screen-reader support

Status messages, dialogs, and navigation now announce properly for assistive tech.

  • Clearer contrast & focus

Buttons and text meet accessibility contrast standards, with a visible keyboard focus outline throughout.

  • Keyboard-friendly dialogs

Pop-ups keep focus inside them and close with the Esc key.

  • Security & privacy hardening

Tightened database access rules and locked-down third-party scripts, plus refreshed foundations under the hood.

Crew & sharing

Plan with your whole crew

  • Invite your crew

Add people as Crew (can add notes) or Viewers (read-only). The owner always stays in control of the trip.

  • RSVPs

    See who's going, who's pending, and who's out — at a glance.

  • Share a trip link

Send a link so friends can see the plan; sign in later to add their own notes and get updates.

Budgets, calendar & flights

The details that make a trip run smoothly

  • Shared budgets & settle-up

Split costs unevenly (leave the toddler off the bar tab), track who paid, and settle up with Venmo/Zelle links.

  • Add to your calendar

Export your itinerary as a calendar file that drops straight into Apple or Google Calendar.

  • Tappable flight details

Flight pills open airline check-in / manage-booking pages and live flight tracking.

  • Inline maps & directions

See each stop on a map and get one-tap directions without leaving the app.

  • Weather-aware packing

Packing lists now match the season and climate of where and when you're going.

  • Redesigned day timeline

A cleaner day-by-day view with per-stop notes and who added what.
